Method Thirty Seven: Olivia (Girls Need Music)

Hello and welcome to Method Thirty Seven. This time around we’re very happy to welcome the Heidelberg-based DJ and musician Olivia. Part of the local Breidenbach Label, Olivia is also co-founder of Zena Collective, which aims to support femxle, TRANS* and non-binary artists in electronic music and club culture, through a regular mix series and via the orginisation of events that shine a light on gender inequality.

Late last year, Olivia also became a part of Girls Need Music and, as one of our go-to sources for new music, it felt like the perfect opportunity to reach out and celebrate what they’re all about with a mix.

GNM is a music platform that hopes to empower music-interested womxn, and develop an inclusive online community for womxn, and for those who are part of the LGBTQ+ community. GNM founder, Maya Gough created the platform a few years ago as a way of connecting with other female music-lovers; and now has a group of creatives and music industry individuals to contribute an array of musical content. From regular posts about releases from jazz-leaning labels like Late Night Tales and Brownswood Recordings to electronic artists such as, Octo Octa, Kelly Lee Owens and Dee Digs; GNM satisfies the music tastes of many.

GNM are always looking for new members, whether it’s to write content for their website, to be a DJ representative, to provide artwork or to simply share music. If you want to become part of the community, feel free to email: girlsneedmusic@hotmail.com

So, when the time feels right, press play and get comfortable with just over an hour of mellow from Olivia.
